History
1920
Organized December 14, 1920 with its Charter issued just 8 days later, IUEC Local 62 is headquartered in Syracuse, New York. For the past 100+ years, Local 62’s elevator mechanics have been providing elevator construction, maintenance, repair, and modernization services to the people of their communities.

Early Years
Local 62 was established at a time when the region was undergoing significant urban growth, and Local 62 elevator mechanics played key roles in contributing to the construction of some of the area’s prominent buildings and structures.

Expansion
Since its founding, Local 62 has gone from strength to strength, and today, the local serves a total of 16 counties, sharing responsibility for Seneca County with Local 27, and splitting Franklin, Delaware, Madison, and Oneida counties with Local 35. Local 62 is responsible for the following towns in these shared jurisdictions: Delaware County towns of Tompkins, Walton, Masonville, Sidney, Franklin, and Deposit; Madison County towns of Lenox, Sullivan, Chittenango, Fenner, Nelson, Eaton, Deruyter, Georgetown, and Lebanon; and Oneida County towns of: Florence, Camden, Vienna.
